THE ongoing nationwide strike embarked upon by the Organized
Labor in Nigeria over the Federal Government's removal of
fuel subsidy has forced the postponement of the much talked
about international friendly between Nigeria's Super Eagles
team and the Lone Stars of Liberia.
The match which was billed to take place in Monrovia
tomorrow had to be pushed forward after the Nigerian side
failed to fly out as a result of the industrial action which
has grounded flights in and out of the country.
On Friday, both the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and
the Liberia Football Association (LFA) agreed to a shift in
the game with the teams now expected to clash in a
fortnight’s time.
Officials of the two countries agreed to this shift in view
of certain circumstances which would have normalised within
the next fortnight.
''The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Liberia
Football Association (LFA) have both agreed to postpone the
friendly match between their senior teams by two weeks,
after which circumstances that have necessitated the shift
would surely have normalised,” General Secretary of the NFF,
Musa Amadu, said.
The match will likely take place at the end of this month.
It will be recalled that the home-based Eagles had on
Wednesday at the National Stadium, Abuja held the 2012
Nations Cup-bound Palancas Negras of Angola to a goalless
draw in an international friendly
