Former Liberian International striker; Musa Shannon will face strong
opposition from Mighty Barrolle President, Mr. Garmondeh Karnga in the
race for the Vice President for Administration position in the
forthcoming Liberia Football Association (LFA) election slated for
Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in
Monrovia.
At a well attended Press Conference in Monrovia, the 11 caps former
Liberian International and ex- Portuguese club Moritimo striker
officially declared his intention to contest the second highest seat
at the local football house, but the now business man will face strong
opposition as there are reports that veteran Liberian sports
administrator and president of LFA premier heavy weight, Mighty
Barrolle, Mr. Karnga is eyeing the same position.

It is not yet clear when will the Barrolle boss announce his intention
for the LFA VPA, but there are reports that a Press Conference is
pending to officially end the speculation.
Football connoisseurs, who have been following the on goings of the
game since 2006, assert that there is no effective, well structured
program, and that local football in Liberia is in a regrettable state
as far as contemporary football on the continent is concerned.
Whether or not the Shannon, or any other contender vying for the
position, can change that dynamic remains to be seen.
The 34-year-old ex-Lone Star forwarder obtained a degree in Business
Administration from the Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, USA.
In 1997, while attending college, Shannon was scouted out by the
Tampa Bay Mutiny in Major League Soccer. In Tampa, Shannon formed a
partnership with Carlos Valderrama and tallied an impressive 20 goals.
He assisted fellow teammates, who also scored an additional seven
goals in a 50-regular season games. Shannon later played one game on
loan from the Mutiny to the Carolina Dynamo of the USISL.
In 2000, Shannon joined the Portuguese club, Maritimo, a team he
left after two seasons after falling out with the team management,
because, he says, he was “committed to the Liberian national team.”
He later played for the Colorado Rapids, Vancouver Whitecaps,
Kitchee in Hong Kong and Nancheng FC, (a club from mainland China
playing in Hong Kong).
Reports had it that Shannon was named the US Major League Soccer
Player for the Month in April, 1999, as selected by a media panel from
the Professional Soccer Reporters Association (PSRA).
