Dioh Williams, returned to the Swedish league after completing
a short stay in Russia.
Liberians, who were contracted across Sweden for the
2010/2011 season have completed the season without securing
any promotional playoff slot or winning any of the country’s
championship.
Two Liberians started in the Allsvenskan league, which is
the top flight in that country: Amadaiya Rennie kickoff the
Allsvenskan league with Elfsbory FF, but was sent out to a
Superettan league outfit Degerfors IF for the rest of the
season and he managed to pen a two-year extension deal with
the Superettan delegation.
The former Mighty Barrolle player netted eight goals for
Degerfors IF in his twelve league matches during the second
phase, and aided the club to finish 5th on the log with 48
points from 15 games.
Current Lone Star’s attacking midfielder Dioh Williams,
returned to the Swedish league after completing a short stay
in Russia. He rejoined his former Swedish club BK Hacken for
the season, but was unable to bank in the goals from the
matches he played. BK Hacken 30 league matches generated 49
points which landed them sixth on the ladder at the close of
the season last weekend.
Former Greek base passing midfielder Isaac Pupo, who has
been ruled out of the national team for low rating, joined
the second phase of the Swedish Superettan league (The
Second Tie) on a seasonal deal with Hammarby IF. However,
his addition to the squad never pushed the club in the
better position after finishing on 40 points that granted
them the eleventh slot on the ladder.
The Swedish 2nd Division, which is 4th level in Sweden (Allsvenskan,
Superettan, 1st Division, than 2nd Division) witnessed lots
of Liberians playing for various teams.
Victor Carr formerly of Liberia’s Black Star started the
league with Harnosand FF and was later joined by defender
midfielder Arnold Kennedy and Kpah Sherman, but they all
failed to qualify the team for the Promotional playoff from
the Norraland Zone.
Aziz Kara (FC-AK) now renamed Monrovia FC dispatched striker
Taurus Manned and midfielder Wilfred Greenfield to Carlstad
United BK for the Swedish 2nd Division season. Both
Liberians contributed to the club promotional playoff target
but never got the required points after collecting 33 points
from 22 matches, finishing 5th in the Norra Gotaland zone.
Lone Star Under23 forward Sam Johnson was the latest to join
the Swedish second after Dalkurd FF cancelled his contract
due to delay in sending his International Transfer
Certificate from the Liberia Football Association.
Sam Johnson was later offered a contract by 2nd Division
Outfit Assyriska F after the Liberian impressed the
administration during his tryout. Johnson played his part in
the club’s playoff challenge, but they were unable to gain
the promotional playoff slot.
Striker Anthony Allison started the season in the 3rd
Division for Sundsvall IFK with the support of Arnold
Kennedy that later went to Harnosand FF in the 2nd Division.
Allison scored 24 goals for Sundsvall IFK in 22 league
matches.
Reports gathered are that Allison has been offered a big
deal from the top flight, but things are still in the
planning stage. Former Nimba FC striker Prince Somah, was
also picked by Sundsvall IFK for the coming season after
spending few times with them during the end of last season.
Monrovia FC former last season top scorer James Teaway, Jr.
arrived in the middle of the second phase and gained a
contract with VIK IK for the rest of the season. The
Liberian netted seven goals for the club during the short
term with the club.
Monrovia FC CEO Wilhelm Myrer and Swedish base Liberian
manager Tore Eliasson, are pushing lots of Liberians to
Sweden and Norway that could afford them the badly need
exposure to be in the right footing to serve the national
team the Lone Star in the near future.
