Liberia midfielder Kelvin Sebwe has praised
his former team mate George Weah's bid to be the country's next
president.
After much speculation Weah confirmed on Saturday that he intends
to stand for the presidency of Liberia in next February's elections.
Sebwe said: "George is a good person and I think he deserves this
chance to be a good president."
"We've known him as a footballer and he has proven to be
influential in different ways and we should support him in his new
career."
"He loves his country and is for the people, he has proven it in so
many ways.
"We should give him a chance and I'll vote for him."
Sebwe also went onto say that the relationship between the Liberia
Football Association (LFA) and the country's overseas-based players
needs to be improved if more of them are to play for the Lone Star.
"The LFA hardy makes any effort to contact us, but they
consistently tell the public that we are demanding money to play for
our country" he told the BBC Sport in Monrovia.
"It's not because of money, they just don't know what we need.
"We must be informed in time and respected.
"Players should not be asking the LFA asking for selection" he said
Sebwe, who plays his club football in Greece for second division
side Panseraikos, and the likes of Oliver Makor have not featured for
the Lone Star since the 2002 African Cup of Nations in Mali.
The Lone Star midfielder also wants players have a say in the way
the team is managed.
"We were once a part of the decision making process on the team and
so the FA should allow this trend to continue" he said.
