The leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia says it
will complain the Liberia Football Association to its international
bodies.
SWAL in a statement said it has resulted to forward a formal report
complaining the behavior of the FA to the World Governing Football
Body (FIFA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
SWAL says they will inform the FIFA and CAF e about the unprofessional
decision of the Liberian FA who placed a ban on a local sports
journalist.
The group claimed the football house has how been stubborn in
reversing a decision that led to the issuing of a ban on one of its
members, a sports journalist, from entering all its facilities around
the country.
The Sports Writers said while the decision has been condemned by every
realistic sports administrator as well as enthusiasts in every part of
the country, the FA has shown no remorse of sportsmanship by lifting
the ban.
SWAL says they want to avoid a situation that could lead to the
placing of “blackout” on the current affairs of the FA, which
according to them could hamper the growth and progress of football in
the country.
According to a release issued, the association also calls for the
timely intervention of the Liberia National Olympic, the parent body
of sports in Liberia.
SWAL maintained that the FA decision was too harsh and has so far
exhibited no level of cordialness with the sporting press as well as
professionalism.
The Sports Writers wants the Football Association to see the sporting
press as partners in progress.
SAWL action followed a decision to suspend the senior reporter of the
Champion Sports newspaper.
The reporter wrote an article on the recent theft at the LFA where
more than 45 thousand United States Dollars went missing.
