The leadership of the Sports Writers Association
of Liberia (SWAL) will meet today at its Headquarter (PUL Clay Street)
to give the Liberia Football Association (LFA) an ultimatum to lift
the bogus ban or suspension on one of its members, Roland M. Mulbah of
Champions Sports, SportsDay and
www.liberiansoccer.com.
The LFA and SWAL 2008 reporter of the year and
sports columnist of the year award winner respectively was bogusly
banned by the local football from entering all its facilities after
the young journalist had done an investigative reporting on the
missing of more than US$53,000.00 from the LFA Account.
SWAL says if the LFA fails to lift the
incredulous ban on reporter Mulbah, it may lead to a media blackout on
all LFA activities by SWAL.
SWAL sees the decision as an affront to all
sports writers who have worked tirelessly in ensuring that football in
Liberia gets the widest media coverage.
The Association thinks the situation needed a
more mature approach other than banning the journalist from LFA
premises.
SWAL views the LFA decision as a violation of
Article-13(a) of the Liberian Constitution which states that every
person lawfully within the republic shall have the right to move
freely throughout Liberia.
SWAL is therefore calling on the hierarchy of the LFA to immediately
reverse its decision without delay.
