SDU Keen to Develop Grass Root Football

Emmanuel Geeza Williams receiving a consignment of top quality footballs and boots from two of Swedish best coaches, Sven Sjunnesson and Bjorn Peters

The group, Sports Develop Underprivileged (SDU) have vowed to develop grass root football which they believe will be a major boost to Liberia's football development program.

Making the disclosure recently was the group's head Emmanuel Geeza Williams upon receiving a consignment of top quality footballs and boots from two of Swedish best coaches, Sven Sjunnesson and Bjorn Peters whom he had come along with to Liberia in their quest to meet with the relevant stakeholders in presenting a package to help transform Liberian football on the grassroot stage by controlling the country's youth program.

Geeza who is no doubt a respectable football promoter by evidence of linking more players to Europe through the Homeless World Cups held in South Africa and Denmark which has made some Liberian players now plying their trades in Germany further revealed that the SDU is soon to open its Monrovia based office as a means of coordinating their activities.

According to Mr. Williams the SDU as part of its desire to develop grassroot football will soon establish a Third Division team that would not be yearning to qualify for the Second Division but will be interested in developing younger talents as well as compete in youth competitions in Europe which will serve as exposure and also means of grooming those talents.

Mr. Williams then went on to urge the country's footbal authorities to take the visit of the two coaches seriously as he indicated "they have come with a package to develop grassroot football which our country really needs as our football is in a downward trend".

He was however quick to point out that such package can be experienced or felt by the country if the football authorities give them the license or contracts to handle the national team where they will set up the country's program with youth football development being paramount.
