Adelaide United has offered 15-year-old sensation Teeboy
Kamara a three-year deal.
ADELAIDE United is on the verge of signing 15-year-old
sensation Teeboy Kamara to a three-year deal.
Five days after Kamara became the youngest ever player in
A-League history, the Reds were believed to be close to
securing him to a long-term contract.
He will become new coach John Kosmina's first signing after
former boss Rini Coolen laid the foundation by promoting him
from the Reds' youth team to play Gold Coast United last
Friday.
Kamara, a Liberian refugee, represented Australia at the
FIFA under-17 World Cup in Mexico this year after earning a
scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport.
He played most of his junior soccer for a reported six years
with Croydon Kings before joining Salisbury United in the
State League.
He also showed promise in Australian football while at SANFL
club North Adelaide in 2007.
Kamara had the crowd at Hindmarsh Stadium on its feet when
he was introduced to the game in the second half last week.
Adelaide United has since been inundated with phone calls
from agents wanting to sign him.
It is believed he will hold his place in the squad to play
Sydney FC tomorrow night.
His A-League contract will start on May 18, 2012 - as soon
as he turns 16 - in accordance with FIFA regulations stating
players must be the minimum school leaver's age.
