Raji Must Be Emulated!

By Roland M.. Mulbah

Keen followers of Liberian Football have hailed Mustapha I. Raji, President of Liberia Football Association (LFA) premier club, LISCR FC for his pursuit in giving Liberia players a career and not just for playing football.

On the local scene, LISCR FC is on record as the only team to have opened Bank Account for all of its players whether on loan or not, while on the International level, the passionate of the world’s popular sport has sent three players from his club to Israel to sign professional contracts.

It can be recalled two weeks ago, two players of LISCR FC, George Baysah and Patrick Doepleh, alias junior boy left the country for Israel before the team’s Captain, Gizzie Dorbor, alias Tucan left for the same designation during the course of the week.

There are reports that two other players, probably Amos Kollie, alias PJ and newly signed from Mighty Blue Angel, Mohammed Varney could leave for the same designation early next week.

There are reports that other top rated local players are on the verge of quitting their teams to join LISCR FC in an attempt to seek professional contracts.

Presidents and officials of other premier clubs as well as other divisions must emulate Mr. Raji in giving our players careers.

Liberian players have disappeared in some of Europe’s biggest leagues since the days of former FIFA world player of the year King George Oppong Manneh Weagh, recently retired midfield maestro, Kelvin Sebwe, newly appointed national U-20 coach Joe Armstrong Nagbe, the nation’s most celebrated soccer star James Salinsa Debbah, former Arsenal star Christopher Wreh, Prince Daye and other who showcased in some of Europe’s top rated leagues.

With LISCR boss gradually giving Liberian players a career and not just taking the game as a hobby, pundits believe the time is not far for Liberian players to showcase in some of Europe’s biggest leagues.
