Quest For LFA Secretarial Continue

August 1, 2006

Liberia Football Association (LFA) boss Sombo Izetta Wesley, has nominated former Millennium FC president John Rufus Ballah for the position of Secretary General of the local football house.

This is in pursuit of madam Wesley's urge to settle the vacancy problem at the LFA after the exit of Yanqueh Borsay. This is the second nomination by the "Iron Lady" in Liberian football circles after Executive Committee member P.G.Wright was rejected by fellow EC members.

Mr. Ballah is currently in the account section of the LFA, and many are pondering as to whether he can surmount the arduous task of effectively heading the Secretariat. Like the exited Borsay and the rejected P.G.Wright, Ballah is said to be a crony of Madam Wesley with many eyebrows being raised on his nomination.

"Will he not be a remote type chief scribe", asked Jeremiah Suleh who calls himself a soccer follower.

Mr. Ballah, who turns 42 in 86 days time has a BBA in Accounting from the University of Liberia, also has a diploma in Accounting from the institute of professional studies, and served as Accountant of the LFA from 2004-2005.

Pundits say since Mr.Ballah is a highly erudite Accountant, it would be prudent to appoint him as treasurer instead of heading the secretariat which is highly delicate and reputable.

They believe that as the country yearns for progress in the new football dispensation, one heading the Secretariat should be abreast with the dialectics of contemporary football.

"I think Madam Wesley should find an alternative or a suitable nominee in occupying such high profile position", said Eugene Williams a local sports promoter. There are some who however believe that it would be certainly unfair to think that Mr. Ballah or anyone appointed by the LFA boss cannot do the job well.

"If it is claimed that Mr. Ballah should be appointed as treasurer at the LFA, then the FA will have virtually no one working at its office since a bulk of those occupying positions there are specialized in various areas order than football.

Whether Mr. Ballah is qualify for such salient position or not, it will be decided this Thursday when the Executive Committee members meet at the LFA Board Room at 5:00 pm.
