Pythons Fail To Qualify

by Horatio Bobby Willie
Monday, 16 October 2006

NPA Deadly Pythons have failed to qualify for the finals of the African Basketball Championships.

Pythons won tow games and loss two but failed to score a point in their last match.

According to reports from Ivory Coast the action by Pythons was in protest to the way Ivorian referees handled their games.

Nigeria’s Ebon Comex also reportedly walked out of the competition.

The teams accused the referees of protecting francophone interest.

Meanwhile, NPA Pythons returned to the country late Saturday.

Pythons and Invincible Eleven represented Liberia in the competition.

At the sometime, the President of the NPA Sports Association says the basketball team of the company will not participate in any FIBA/Africa Basketball Tournament organized in a French speaking country.

Mr. Jimmie Toe said this was because a number of discrimination existed in French speaking nations.

Mr. Toe said NPA Deadly Pythons recent participation in the African Basketball Championships qualifying tournament was a classic example.

He claimed that Ivorian Referees poorly handled most of the games and that made his team to miss out on a place in the finals of the competition.
