The Chief Patron of Sports, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf,
has challenged players of the Lone Star to work out their
best formation to thrash the Zimbabweans in Harare this
weekend.
President Sirleaf has announced a US$5,000 package for each
player of the national team if victory is secured against
Zimbabwe in the second to last Group stage fixture in the
2012 Nations Cup qualifiers. Lone Star is heading for the
must win fixture in one of its away series for the
qualifiers.
The official delegation is expected to depart Liberia today
with shoot stoppers Nathaniel Sherman and Galley James.
Defenders making the trip include Teah Dennis of BYC;
Solomon Wisseh from LPRC Oilers; George Gebro, and Francis
Myer Garlo of Barrack Young Controllers.
The national team will be jetting Mighty Barrolle’s
defensive midfielder Martin Kandu, Patrick Wleh from
champion LISCR FC, James Soto Roberts of LPRC Oilers and
unattached Francis Grandpa Doe.
Although LFA officials are yet to disclose activities in the
next five days before the game with Zimbabwe, details
gathered from the training session revealed that Kelvin
Sebwe and Thomas Kojo are the two deputies making the trip
along side head coach Roberto Landi and other FA officials.
Professional players invited for the game are expected to
arrive in Zimbabwe from their respective bases probably by
Tuesday evening. But Lone Star center back Jimmy Dixon of
Turkish club Manisaspor FC has been ruled out of this
crucial weekend match in Harare because he is recovering
from a long-term injury.
