A citizen of Lofa County has made a donation of football materials
to the county’s football team.
The Lofa team is preparing for this year’s national sports meet.
Mr. Joseph Farkollie on Saturday presented a set of practice bibs to
the team on Bushrod Island.
Although the value of the materials was not stated, Mr. Farkollie
said it was his initial contribution to the team.
He is the second Lofa citizen to make a donation to the county team.
Senator Sumo Kupee last week made a cash contribution of ten
thousand Liberian dollars to the team.
At the sametime, the Lofa County Football Team has received another
donation.
The latest comes from former Lofa County Superintendent E. Sumo
Jones.
Mr. Jones on Saturday made a cash donation of two hundred United
States dollars.
According to a release from the Lofa Sports Association, former
Superintendent Jones made the donation through a check.
Mr. Jones expressed the hope that Lofa would become victorious this
time around when it reaches the grand final.
Lofa County has reached the grand final of the county meet on three
occasions but has failed to lift the title.
The Lofa Sports Association in a letter of appreciation to Mr. Jones
said the gesture was an indication of his willingness to promote
sports and encourage the growth of the game in the county.
The group said it was no surprise for the former superintendent to
come to the aid of the team as he did similar thing during his
regime as head of the county.
The Lofa Sports Association is being headed by Cole Bangalu as
Technical director and Joseph Farkollie as General Coordinator.
