Three Liberian track and field athletes
have stated their displeasure over the level of preparations for the
2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greens.
During a press conference held on
Wednesday, Kouty Mawehn, who claimed to be coordinator of athletes
in the United States, raised concern over the level of preparations
being carried out by the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC)
and the Liberia Track and Field Federation (LTFF).
He disagreed with the fact that the LTFF
has selected local athletes for the Olympics in the absence of a
qualifier.
As for Sayon Cooper, he said there is
nothing like a US-based athlete and that of a local one.
According to him, at present, there is not
any awareness for the Olympics.
With around sixty days to the event,
Cooper said the US-based athletes have been training for days and
nights, but the country cannot win medals overnight.
As for Bill Rogers, he said there is no
plan and future for athletes in the years to come.
