Whiz-kid Alex Nimely is wooing fans with his superb goal scoring
instinct as he has netted a goal each against Italian club AC Milan
and Mexican side Tigres in the fabulous youth tournament dubbed the
Dallas Cup.
The 17 year old according to Manchester City website, powered his
team in their 4-0 demolition of AC Milan. The lad put the final nail
on the coffin as he rattled the net for the fourth goal. The match
which was played on Friday, April 3, was a highly entertaining one
as the City youth played their usual attacking football to destroy
their Italian counterparts.
The following day, on Saturday, the City Youth side continued their
impressive form when they came from two goals behind in a spirited
fashion to beat Mexican club Tigres.
Coached by Jim Cassell, the City youngsters put up a classic
performance in the prestigious Dallas Cup with the hard earned 3-2
win. With his side 2-0 down, the Liberian prodigy, Nimely found the
life line as the score was reduced to 2-1.
With his side enjoying a lion's share of possession on a bumpy,
windswept pitch against the Mexicans who were playing on the break,
Nimely drew the goalkeeper to pull one back from an angle after the
hour.
In their direct game of 4-3-3 formation, the English Youth Cup
holders snatched the much needed equalizer with a brave header from
Greg Cunningham 17 minutes from the end before Keiran Trippier
launched a free kick from right-back that sailed over the goalkeeper
and under the bar for a wind-assisted winner.
The opponents then abandoned their time wasting to launch a fierce
final push for an equalizer but the City side under the Captaincy of
Andrew Tutte held out to make it six points from two games, needing
only a draw in the next match against a formidable Toronto team on
Wednesday afternoon to to clinch their passage to the next round in
Texas.
