Nimba and Grand Gedeh Counties have qualified to the grand final of the 2009/2010 National County sports meet organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Nimba County reached the final after edging bitter County meet rival, Bong County 1-0 on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) sports complex in Paynesville, outside Monrovia, while Grand Gedeh achieved the feat after a 4-2 dramatic penalties shootout victory over Grand Bassa County on the same day after regular and extra times ended 1-1.

Nimba and Grand Gedeh counties will hope to use the National County sports meet, arguably regarded as the most fascinating and unifying tool for decades to bring about unity.

Both counties will wish to end a protracted period of controversy during the Sunday, January 18, 2010 grand final of Liberia’s most prestigious sports tournament.

The President of the Republic of Liberia, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and other top officials of government including authorities of the finalists will attend the 2009/2010 final of the national County sports meet at SKD which starts at 2:00PM Sunday.

The question now is: Who becomes champions of the month long competition? Sunday is the answer.
