 Need For Reform

By Roland M. Mulbah

It is an undeniable fact that Liberian football is in the doldrums. The FA and the MYS are having an unpalatable working relationship, the national team is in ruins and the national league is spice less when ever it is held as there are no sponsors and organizations.

There is no effective well structured program with the idea of youth football promotion where there would be a systematic sort of promotion being completely ignored.

Liberian football is certainly at a disgraceful state and we are still in a minnow status as far as contemporary football on the continent is concerned. With the game dieing a natural death and soon to be interred in a country that has the enviable record of producing African football legend, George Oppong Manneh Weah who showed cased his talent in Europe where he became FIFA world footballer of the year 1995 as well as other lucrative awards, it is quite a paradox that the country's football is soon to be forgotten if nothing concrete is done in the midst of talented players and some veteran administrator.

These are just few of the many reasons why the need for a football reform is expedient.

There is a need to bring on board new administrators at the helm of the country's football who have the urge, desire and commitment in driving the country's game forward.

With vision and innovation lacking at the zenith of the country's football, it is quite realistic for the game to be completely revolutionized

As a major antidote, there first need to be a football conference that would involve everyone following the game as they would bring forth their convergent of views to make them convergent.

This conference would clear many doubts as well as expunge as host of problems that have impeded the growth of the game in this tiny West African nation of ours.

This conference would bring to the fore our counterparts in some parts of the continent where they would provide some tips on the success of the football which would serve as a catalyst in driving ours forward.

With the holding of a conference which would serve as a recipe for the development of football and as well set the tone for the football reform, we could be on the road in terms of promoting our game to a more respectable level.

This would indeed mark a renaissance where our national team would once more be winsome; our league would have that competitive spirit with our clubs making strides in continental competitions and in all a well structured football program.

We do envisage good tidings for our football and it is advisable we take heed.
