NPA Anchors secured a vital 1-0 win against uninspiring Liberia
Football Association (LFA) premiership defending champions Black
Star at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in continuation of the
current campaign.
Danger man Namie Nancy broke the deadlock in the first stanza to see
the free port boys arrived at seventh spot on the LFA 18 teams’
premier log with 14 points from nine matches.
Black Star mounted immense pressure in the second stanza in an
attempt for the equalizer, but poor finishing from the legs of LFA
2008 Most Valuable Player (MVP) James Soto Roberts, Bill Sheriff,
Sengbeh Kennedy and Captain Soso Keke caused the defending Champions
nightmare.
Elsewhere, at the Unification Town (UNT) pitch in Margibi County,
Mighty Blue Angel moved third after a hard earned 2-1 edging of
Football Club Azziz Kara (FCAK).
Thanks to speedy winger Jerry Jimmie and left back Anthony Buogbor
who rattled the net.
In other matches played over the weekend, Liberia’s darling football
club, Invincible Eleven (IE) continued her inconsistent performance
in the current chase when the sun shine yellow boys went down 2-1 to
newly promoted LFA premier outfit Adorence FC at the Nancy Doe pitch
in Kakata, Margibi County, while two bottom of the table clubs in
the form of USA FC and Devereux FC settled to a goalless draw.
The draw saw USA escaped the relegation zone putting Jubilee in the
danger zone.
The league continues Friday, May 15, 2009 with Jasmine Ranger
welcoming Mighty Barrolle at the ATS.
Barrolle will hope to move closer to the top of the table should the
Garmondeh Karnga boys’ secure the maximum three points.
Mighty Barrolle Captain fantastic Nuhohn Kulala, burly striker Weaka
Wisseh, skillful front runner Sam Andrews, speedy winger Archie
Harvey, alias Liberia’s Shaun Wright Philips, defense icon Sam
Peters, magic hands Samuel Cooper, midfielders Julius Nah alias
Michael Essien, Michael Jaesue, and Little Lewis, adventurous left
back Arthur Jerry, experienced defender Hallie Lahai and others are
on hand for the match and have promised fans of the red and white
outfit of collecting the vital three points to stay in contention
for the LFA premiership crown, while their opponent will play
without danger striker Freeman Mulbah who injured his left football
in the 1-1 draw against UMC Roots this week.
In the last LFA premiership match, Jubilee will play host to LPRC
Oilers at the Nancy Doe pitch in Kakata.
A win for the oil boys will see them at the top of the table.
