tasted defeat in its first match of the ongoing National County meet
organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS).
The youthful Montserrado County squad went down
2-1 against uninspiring defending champions, Bomi County in Tubmanburg,
Bomi County on Tuesday, December 22, 2009.
The defeat puts the county at the basement of
group A with two matches remaining against Maryland County as well as
leader of group A, Margibi County.
Montserrado had earlier taken the lead in the
first half, but President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s Bomi County
regrouped and pulled two goals in the second half to secure first
victory in the competition with no game left.
The Liberian President’s County started the
competition poorly with two straight defeats after going down against
Margibi 3-0 at home and a 2-0 defeat to Maryland County.
Meanwhile, Margibi, Grand Bassa, Lofa and
Gbarpolu counties have all qualified for the quarter faunal of het
ongoing national
county meet.
Margibi and Bassa ensured six points from their 1st
two matches, while Lofa and Gbarpolu secured four and three points
respectively from a group of three.
