Martins
Impressed with performance

Another international Ben Mccarthy Martins says he is impressed with
the heroic performance put up by his Zambian club Zesco United as
they held Ivorian side Africa Sports to a pulsating draw in Abidjan
in continuation of the second round first leg tie of Africa's Blue
ribbon club competition, the champions league.
Speaking to liberiansoccer.com, the bullish striker indicated
"Coming to this great football country, Ivory Coast, and then
leaving with a draw is something good".He stated that they would
raise their game in the second leg of the campaign two weeks time at
home to ensure the Ivorians are eliminated. " We are quite aware
that the tie is still opened as the first leg has ended goaless,
but, we will try and get an early goal at home to do the damage to
them", he opined.
The former Roots FC, LISCR and Mighty Barrolle gangling attacker
already has two goals in the campaign after scoring a goal each
against Kenyan outfit Mathare United in his side 5-1 goal aggregate
demolishion of the East African club.
Martins joined Zesco last season where he helped the club win the
championship in the Zambian Super Division. He had the opportunity
to benefit from a training camp with the team in Dubai before they
were edged out of the second round of the competition last season by
Sudanese side Al-Hilal.At the beginning of the on going campaign,
they had a training camp in Brazil and are hoping to improve on
their last year performance.
Initially, Martins had a company at Zesco, as former Mighty Barrolle
workaholic holding midfielder Julius "Essien" Nah joined the club
with Ben, but his contract has since been terminated due to poor
performance.
