MYS Bows To Pressure, Release Report
At long last the fund drive and mobilization team
set up by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for the Liberia female U-20
team for their match against Guinea on March 26, 2006 in the
preliminaries of the FIFA female U-20 qualifiers has released its
final report on funds collected.
In the report signed by the committee’s Chairman,
Jamesetta Howard-Wolokollie, who is also the Minister of Youth and
Sports, a total amount of US $11,593.33 and L$97,498.00 was raised at
the end of the entire process.
Funds collected range from the communities,
basketball tournaments, as well as individuals and institutions.
Observers have described the decision by the committee to put forth
its report for public scrutiny as a positive step, and are calling on
other institutions to emulate the example of the Jamesetta Howard-Wolokollie
led fund raising committee.
