Monrovia
Despite the fact that the Liberia Football Association (LFA), has
named a new coach to replace coach Kadala Kromah as head coach of the
Lone Star, reports gathered by our sports desk, says there are plans
by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to announce the name of a new
coach for the team.
Sports Minister Cllr. Wheatonia Dixon Barnes, over the weekend
confirmed the news of the appointment of a new coach for the Lone
Star.
According to the minister, the names of two of the nation's finest
coaches are under consideration to take over the team.
The sports minister named coaches Wilfred Lander and Frank Jerico
Nagbe as the two persons who are under serious consideration to take
over the team.
One of the two coaches will be the head while the other will be the
deputy.
Reports gathered by our sports desk, suggest that coach Lardner is
being highly tipped to be the head. Minister Barnes added that at the
moment, serious consultation is taking place to come out with the
selection of the new coach.
The decision by the ministry to announce the name of a new coach for
the Lone Star, contradict earlier pronouncement from the Liberia
Football Association (LFA), which some late last year, named coach
Joseph Sayon alias "Kofi Bruce" as the new head coach of the team.
Coach Kofi Bruce was appointed by the local football house after
former national team coach Kadala Kromah resigned from the position
following the Lone Star's defeat to the Taranga Lions of Senegal at
the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.
According to the local football house, its decision to appoint coach
Sayon as head coach of the team is predicated upon the fact that he
was the deputy to coach Kadala Kromah and as such, since coach kadala
has resigned from the job, his deputy Kofi Bruce should take over the
position in keeping with standing procedure.
But shortly after cocah Sayon's appointment, the MYS excepted to the
appointment.
Meanwhile, Lone Star fans who spoke to our reporters has lauded the
move to appoint coaches Lardner and Jerico Nagbe to take over the
team.
They said with the level of experience acquired by the two coaches
coupled with the level of successes they have achieved, they can live
up to the task if appointed to take charge of the team. Officials of
the LFA could not be reached up to press time comment on this latest
pronouncement of the MYS.
