Lone Star Engages SDU For Independence Day

The Liberia Football Association says, in commemoration of this year's independence anniversary, it has organized a three-day tournament, which begin tomorrow, July 26 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

The three days tournament will take place between the Lone Star of Liberia and the Sports for the Development of the Underprivileged (SDU) all stars.

The Lone Star is currently undergoing training for the Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers, which will begin shortly.

The Acting Chief Scribe of the LFA, Mr. Napoleon K. Jaepoloe who spoke to the INQUIRER Sports said, the SDU all Stars will feature some veteran football players of Liberia as well as some superstars.

Some of those expected to play for the SDU all Stars are, James Sallinsa Debbah, Boye Charles, Friday Roberts, Hazel Gray and US/Jamaican based professional Eddie Kingston amongst others.

According to the listing, all of the players who will be featuring for the Lone Star in the tournament are local based.

The Lone Star will be led by its Technical Staff comprising, Head Coach Frank Nagbe, Deputy Coach David Nimely, Trainer Christopher Doh and Administrative Manager Benedict Wreh. Others on the technical team of the Lone Star are, Jefferson Zoegbeh, Medic, Abraham Kaba, Masseur and two caretakers.

The Lone Star listing comprises 22 local players, which includes Sengbe Kennedy, Melvin King, Jerry Bing, Solomon Grimes, Gizzie Dorbor, George Baysah, John Kollie, Frank Nagbe, Sackie Doe and Solomon Wesseh.

Other players to feature for the national team are, Shelton Barlee, James Zotiah, Jacob Toe, Alex Nimely, Afred Coleman, Omega Roberts, Vetalise Sieh, and Ben Martin. The rest of the 22 players are, Junior Wilson, Nuzohn Kulala, Eric Weeks and Prince Garwo.

The local football house says tomorrow's game, which will begin on the 4:00pm is the first in the series of three matches. The other two matches will be held on the 28th and 30th of July respectively. Before the Lone Star's match, a kickoff match will take place between E-man FC and Young Stars.

The games are being sponsored by the Government of Liberia(GOL) and is geared towards raising funds for the support of the national team.

The FA says tickets for the game will be sold at the LFA office and other designated areas. Prices for the tickets are: VIP - L$250.00; Around VIP - L$150.00; Stadium Wing - L$50.00 and Around the Field is L$25,00.
