Lone Star's Participation Opposed
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.

A member of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL), Mr. Isaac Chenoweth Yeah of DC 101, has opposed the participation of the Lone Star in the "Germany 2006" World Cup qualifying campaign. The sports journalist wants the Liberia Football Association (LFA) rethinks its decision to commit the team into the competition.

Mr. Yeah, once a Secretary General of SWAL, says, "it was unrealistic in this transitional period, where the Gyude Bryant administration would be facing the task of mobilizing resources to jump start the country's economy coupled with the mass exodus of National Team players as a result of the recent fighting on the city for the LFA to be thinking about participating in a prestigious competition like the World Cup which is highly cost intensive."

Following poor showings in previous matches, Mr. Yeah thinks the time is now that the LFA designs new programs and strategies that would ensure the success of the team in future competitions.
Mr. Yeah is questioning the LFA's sincerity in its decision to commit the team into the competition. Perhaps, according to Mr. Yeah, the LFA "just" wants the Lone Star to participate in the competition.

The National Football League has been cancelled due to recent fighting, thus, Mr. Yeah thinks activities of the Lone Star should be placed aside for the same reason aforementioned.
He, meanwhile, admonished the Sports Ministry to consult with the LFA and ensure that the country's meager resources are not wasted due to poor preparation, bad planning and inexperienced players.
