The Lone Star is back in Monrovia following its unfortunate trip to
Dakar, Senegal. In Senegal, the Lone Star went down 6-1 against the
host Teranga Lions on Saturday, March 26.
As a result of the disastrous result suffered by the Liberian national
team, the Lone Star quietly entered the capital on Tuesday. The
delegation apparently tried to avoid being noticed by angry fans that
are still disturbed by the dismal weekend performance of the Lone
Star.
When the Lone Star lost 3-0 to Senegal in October last year, the
Liberian fans took to the streets, damaging properties, and descended
on key football officials and their associates.
Following six matches in the joint 2006 Nations Cup and World Cup
qualifiers, Liberia continues to lie second from bottom with four
points in Group One, two points above Mali. Liberia beat Mali 1-0 and
drew 0-0 with Togo, both matches taking place in Monrovia.
