Liberian international striker Alvin Kie has been left out of the national soccer team's squad that will face the Togolese national team at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville on Sunday, July 4, 2004.

The head coach of the national team Lone Star, Kadallah Kromah is quoted as saying that the player was not named this time around because he performed dismally against the Red Devils of Congo in Brazzaville on June 20.

Kie, who plays in Cyprus, got the goal for the Lone Star in a 1-0 victory against Mali's Eagles.
Despite the fact that the player is vacationing in Monrovia, Kie was withdrawn from the list of 12 players selected from overseas even though some may not appear for the match.

The decision to exclude Kie was has not been welcomed by the soccer public.

Many believe that the player's poor showing against Congo is not enough reason why the Lone Star head should drop the player.

According to one Josiah Tuwon, Kie has already made his mark on the Lone Star such that he is needed at all times.

Tuzon told coach Kromah and the Lone Star technical staff to hold Kie in high esteem because the player always responds to invitations from the team.

He warned coach Kromah that resignation will be the order of the day if the exclusion of Kie would cause the Lone Star's defeat against Togo on Sunday.
