Mulbah Named Best Journalist
The 2009 league season of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) was
held Tuesday, February 11 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in
Monrovia with several individuals and institutions being honored by
the local football house for their outstanding performances.
Among the honorees was one of the best local websites,
www.liberiansoccer.com that was honored by the LFA as the best
electronic media institution for the year 2009.
According to the leadership of the LFA, out of more than 17
institutions, liberiansoccer.com won the award based on the huge
coverage of the LFA 2009 league season where stories, tables, fixtures
and others were covered by the fantastic website.
Receiving the award was Senior Reporter Roland M. Mulbah, who broke
more than 64 years record as the first journalist to received three
awards during LFA closing program.
The young remarkable journalist was named LFA best journalist for
2009, while the institutions he writhes for, www.liberiansoccer.com
and Sportsday newspaper were awarded Electronic and Print institutions
of the year respectively.
The LFA honored reporter Mulbah for the enormous coverage of the 2009
league and hailed him as the best in the country and among the best in
the sub region.
Keen followers of Liberian Football rated the 2009 edition of the LFA
league as arguably the best in terms of its fierce competition as well
as the size of the league (18 teams - 34 matches each).
The LFA 2009 premiership saw traditional outfit Mighty Barrolle
emerging as champions, while Sensational LPRC Oilers and youthful
Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) are on the pecking order of second and
third spots respectively in the top flight.
Alliance FC and Tony FC emerged as champions and runners-up in the
first division respectively.
In the second division, Green Pastures surfaced as champions, Vinton
Professionals secured runners-up spot, while Earth Angels and Senior
Professionals grabbed the championship and runners-up slots in the
female category respectively.
In the knock out category, youthful LFA Premier Club, BYC clinched the
championship with a 1-0 edging of LPRC Oilers, while Pro. Anchors won
Earth Angels to clinch the championship in the female category.
For the first time since 1936, the local football house spent more
than L$1.2 million on its closing program.
The well organized ceremony saw more than 40 awards being given to
deserving personalities and individuals who showed great performances
in the just concluded league.
