The Preston Lions have completed the biggest recruiting coup of the pre-season with the arrival of two high-profile international players.

Stephen Weah, a Liberian international who is the cousin of former World Player of the Year George Weah, and former Macedonian international goalkeeper Goce Gruevski, have joined the team for its assault on the 2006 Victorian Premier League.

Both players completed their first hit-out for the Lions in a practice match against the Essendon Royals last Sunday with each showing glimpses of individual brilliance and flair to whet the appetites of the Preston faithful.

Weah, 28, had previously been on trial with A-League clubs Sydney FC and the Queensland Roar and has already forged a successful career in Asia scoring close to 100 goals from nearly 150 league games. A striker who possesses lethal foot power, Weah has also been capped 12 times for his country scoring eight international goals, and his aerial dominance will add an extra element to Preston's potent strike force
