Liberian Stars To Storm ATS Today!
-Who Wins SWAL Stars Vacation Tournament

Fans and lovers of Liberian football are expected to enjoy the worth of their money when some of Liberia’s best foreign based footballers battle against Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) selected Liberia Football Association (LFA) All Star squad today, Thursday, December 31st, 2009 at 4.00 PM at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.

The three-day’s soccer festival is organized by the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) in collaboration with its partners, Vantaa Sports and the Pioneer Sporting Group (PSG).

In the first match played on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the tournament’s venue, LFA All Star came from two goals down to settle to a 2-2 draw against their most Senior Brothers in a match well attended by fans of local football.

Deadly forward Ben Martins of Zesco United in Zambia put the Foreign Based in front in the first half, while Egyptian side Al-Ahly attacking ace Francis Grand Pa Doe increased the score line in the second stanza, but the local stars mounted more pressure against their opponents and pull two goals from Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) defensive midfielder, Queenjay Continanta and Jasmine Rangers’ attacking hero, Freeman Mulbah to end the match 2-2.

Today’s match will be considered an epic encounter with the arrival of Sekou Jabateh Oliseh, who is showcasing in the UEFA Champions League with Russian side CSKA Moscow and other stars to strengthen the Foreign based side.

“I will be at the ATS to show Liberian fans what I am made of from Europe, especially in the UEFA Champions League,” Jabateh, who is set to storm ATS with other Liberian professional footballers noted.

The Liberian born Nigerian, who went to Europe on Nigerian passport, has since expressed his interest to play for Liberia’s Lone Star at international level.

He returned today from Nigeria and will join the likes of Captain Ben Teekloh of Farul Constanta, Romania, Egyptian side Al-Ahly attacking ace Francis Grand Pa Doe, Theo Weeks of Turkey, Danish club AGF Aarhus hit-man Dioh Williams, deadly forward Ben Martins of Zesco United in Zambia and Swedish side Elfsborg U-20 winner, the sublime Amardiya Rennie.

While the foreign may be considered an illustrious opponent to the LFA all Star, it does not in any way mean the local stars should be considered pushover in the second encounter of the SWAL Stars Vacation Tournament.

The likes of Joseph Kelee Hina of Invincible Eleven (IE), deadly Mighty Barrolle winger Archie Harvey, alias Shaun Wright Philips, LFA youthful premier club, Gedi and Sons confident defender Adonis Ketter, goal customer, Freeman Mulbah of Jasmine Rangers, resourceful Mighty Barrolle midfielder, Wilfred Greenfield, who won the man of the match in the first encounter and other local stars will be on hand to probably prove an upset for the Foreign based.

Fees for the match include, VIP L$100.00, Around VIP L$50.00, Stadium Wing L$30 and around the field just L$20.00.

Meanwhile, Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) efforts to see local players in the Liberia Football Association (LFA) league showcase their talents against their most famous opponents, Liberian foreign based footballers has been boosted by LFA Executive Committee (EC) member, Mr. Musa Hassan Bility  after the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Renaissance Communication Incorporated (RCI) pledged his support of full commentary of the last two days of the SWAL Stars Vacation Tournament which continues today at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.
