The Liberian duo of Murphy Nagbe
and Zah Krangar during the week lifted their club
Persikabpas to a bright start in the Indonesian Liga
Djarum eight teams play-off.
On Monday they marshaled their
side to victory against Persijab, the club side of
fellow Liberian Alex Brown.
It was a 3-1 thriller for the
orange and white outfit as they began the play-offs
on a good footing. The flood gate was opened as
early as the 12th minute when an out swinging corner
was flicked on by acrobatic defender Murphy Nagbe to
the sublimely gifted Zah Krangar, who slotted the
ball in the roof of the net.
According to the FA’s website, the
name Zah was written all over the second goal as he
used his usual technique to bewilder the opponents’
defense before bringing his Chilean strike partner
into play for the second goal cushion.
After the break, Christian Duranga
squandered a penalty for Persijab. But they managed
to reduce the tally from a set piece after Alex
Brown was upended.
Against the run of play, Zah
out-paced an opponent before releasing team-mate Max
Adonge who neatly played the ball on the floor in
beating the goalie to end the match 3-1.In their
second match, Persikabpas and Eugene Gray’s Miranga
played to a pulsating 2-2 draw.
The major point in the match came
in the last minute of stoppage time when the
inventive Zah scored a goal as his team snatched
draw from the jaws of victory.
The ex-youth international was
again assisted by his Liberian team-mate Murphy
Nagbe, who along with the entire team, had gone in
the opponent’s goal area in an attempt to find an
equalizer.
A long throw-in was sliced through
by the burly center back in the path of the talented
Zah who played the ball beyond the reach of the
onrushing goalie to end the match 2-2. A draw for
Persikabpas in the next match on Sunday would take
them to the seni-final of the competition.
