Liberia Secures Semi Final Place in Homeless World Cup

Liberia has qualified for the semi final of this year’s Homeless World Cup.

Liberia won four matches in both the group and knockout stages to reach the semi final.

On Sunday, Liberia pinned Zimbabwe 3-2 in her opening match.

Sarwee Potee scored a hat trick for Liberia.

Liberia on Monday defeated one of the tournament’s favorites Portugal.

Liberia won the match 2-0 with Fallah Harris commonly known as Iron Monkey scoring both goals.

Ireland was also a victim of Liberia’s onslaught. Liberia beat them 10-0.

Bobby Niare of Liberia was voted man of the match for Liberia’s first two games.

Female player Kpanneh Sayon has also been an important contribution to the team’s success in the competition.

Fallah Thomas is currently the top scorer for Liberia with eight goals.

The Homeless World Cup this year is featuring 48 countries.

The competition features street children who see football as a major past time.

South African President Thabo Mbeki opened the competition on Sunday.

The host South Africa whipped Chile 2-1 also on Sunday.


The Homeless World Cup is being played under the theme 48 Nation One Goal, Kick Off Poverty.
