Liberia has secured the 2nd spot in Group Five of the 2008 African Cup of Nations Qualifying Rounds.

Liberia achieved the feat after a heart breaking and impressive win over Rwanda at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on Sunday.

Liberia won the game 3-2 before an overcrowded stadium.

The Lone Star led by star midfielder Kelvin Sebwe missed dozens of goals before the getting the match opener in the 25th minute.

It was Francis Grandpa Doe who created the situation that led to the goal and he also completed his impressive display.

Following the goal the tempo of the game slowed down a bit with Liberia creating little threats while Rwanda decided

to push forward to get the equalizer. In the 63rd minute, Oliver Makor scored Liberia's 2nd goal from a 30-yard shot.

After that Rwanda reduced the tally with a powerful header from a substitute striker.

Dioh Williams scored the match winner after 72 minutes but Rwanda sends the stadium nervous with another goal from a set piece. The victory gives Liberia 3 points form two games with a superior goal difference over Equatorial Guinea.

Captain Kelvin Sebwe of the Lone Star said the win was a good start for the team.

He is urging the LFA and Sports Ministry to put their differences aside so that Liberia can prepare early for her next encounter.

Kelvin Sebwe also wants the inclusion of more foreign-based players so that the team can be strengthened.

The Lone Star captain has also praised the performance of the local players.

He said no one should be blamed for the goals the team conceded stating it was an error that any team could make.
