FIFA delegation to ’assess development of football in Liberia
APA-Monrovia (Liberia) A three-member delegation from the world
football governing body (FIFA) is expected in Liberia on Wednesday
to assess the standard of ’footballing’ prevailing in post-war
Liberia.
The head of the delegation, Sampon Kablan, the FIFA Development
Officer for Africa and two others will assess development on the
implementation of the FIFA roadmap for Liberia, which calls for
coordination among the local football governing body, the Liberia
Football Association (LFA), the political sports governing body, the
Ministry of Youth and Sports and various football clubs.
The FIFA roadmap for Liberia drafted on October 21 in Zurich,
Switzerland, aims to restore and promote peace, unity and
development among soccer stakeholders in Liberia.
The FIFA delegation, according to a Ministry of Youth and Sports
source, will hold discussions on the way forward of the rejected LFA
statute and the 2009 LFA National League Rules and Regulations.
The statement said the Kablan delegation is also expected to hold
talks with the executive committee members of the FA, the Ministry
of Youth and Sports and stakeholders on the pitfalls and progress
thus far.
The delegation is also expected to hold talks with the ex-presidents
of the local FA, including several senior Liberian officials, and
also evaluate the Win Win Africa project in Kakata about 45
kilometres north of the capital Monrovia.
Recommendations from the assessment will be submitted to FIFA
President Sepp Blatter, the source told APA on Wednesday.
