Liberia FA secretary-general Borsay has criticized coach Kromah

Liberia's national coach Kadala Kromah has become embroiled in a slanging match with FA officials as the country's 2006 World Cup and Nations Cup qualifier against the Gambia approaches.

Concerned about the possibility of missing out on the group stages of World Cup and Nations Cup qualifying, Liberia's football authorities have launched an attack on Kromah.

"He lacks consistency and doesn't consult his deputies which leads to confusion within the technical side of the team," FA secretary-general Yanqueh Borsay told the BBC Sport website.

Yet Kromah refutes these allegations, claiming that Borsay simply does not understand his tactical decisions.

"My decisions are purely calculative and scientific - and who's better placed than the coach to determine what's best for his team?" Kromah retorted.

The war of words comes after Kromah submitted a list of ten foreign-based players he says he needs if Liberia are to beat Gambia, who hold a 2-0 advantage, in the qualifier's second leg in Monrovia on 15 November.

Kromah wants the likes of Zizi Roberts, Oliver Makor, George Gebro and Jimmy Dixon to play, but the FA seems happy to make do without them.

And Borsay says the coach's choices reveal him to be indecisive and unprofessional.

"He is selecting players that he has little or no information about, whether they are playing at the moment or not, basing his decision on public sentiments and not sticking to the locals he vowed to develop," Borsay claims.

Yet Kadala Kromah rejects these claims.

"All of the players contacted abroad are playing at the moment except Prince Day, who was playing for Bastia in France but is now living in Ghana," he said.

"I've been in touch with these players and Borsay does not know what he's talking about."

The differences of opinion seem certain to deepen as Borsay says he will take his case to Liberia's FA executive committee.
