The Secretary-General of the Invincible Eleven (IE) Majestic Sports
Association has called on fans and supporters of the Sunshine Yellow
Boys to use the death of former club President Lawrence Doe to be
united.
Mr. Vincent T. Yelegar is of the conviction that when IE fans and
supporters are united at this time of bereavement, then the dream of
Mr. Doe, which was geared towards seeing a viable IE, can be realized.
“His (Lawrence Doe’s) dream was to institutionalize IE by taking the
club from people’s pockets,” declared the Secretary-General of IE.
Mr. Yelegar forwarded his appeal for support by rallying former
players and officials that are now based in the Diaspora.
The late Lawrence M. Doe, former
president of the Invincible Eleven
“We need to do something now or else we will not have a team called IE
anymore. Ben Donnie, Sam Burnette and Lawrence Doe were there for IE,
but now they are no more. If we want their souls to rest in peace,
then we need to praticalize their dreams,” Mr. Yelegar stated.
The IE official wants fans and supporters of IE to put aside their
differences and rally for the prosperity of their beloved IE by seeing
the team as the only common denominator.
At the same time, an IE Board Member, Mr. Joseph H. Farkollie
described the late Doe as one of those staunch members who came to the
aid of the club.
He remembers Mr. Doe for being the driving force behind the victorious
IE side that won the national league title, with the likes of George
Weah forming part of the squad.
“Recently, he came to the aid of IE after the death of Ben Donnie as
Chairman of the Board. Everyone will miss him. He was everything to
IE. With the absence of Donnie, Sam Burnette and Doe, we don’t know
where IE goes from here.
“He (Doe) fought to restore IE to the Premier Division after the team
got relegated. This is indeed a very serious blow for us to have lost
him. So, we just need to come together because we don’t know now who
will fill the vacuum because we have lost a very great leader,” Mr.
Farkollie lamented.
