Laffor wins another silverware in South Africa

Liberia’s Anthony Laffor has helped his club to win an unprecedented triple in South African football premiership.

The 24 year old forward played a very important role as Super sport United grabbed a record third in the Absa Premiership.

United lost their final match of the campaign to Bidvest Wits but won the championship after their main contenders Mamelodi Sundowns were defeated 2-0 by relegation bound Jomo Cosmos.

The Liberian footballer scored 7 handsome premiership goals for the Champions last season.

He becomes just the second Liberian oversee based player to win a crown with his club in the space of four months with the other being Dulee Johnson who did his with AIK Sonal of Sweden.

The Liberian hitman has formed an integral part of Matsatsantsa's successful campaign this season, netting seven times and setting up a number of goals, but he feels that none of it would have been possible were it not for the former Moroka Swallows mentor

Laffor Said "It is a fantastic thing to clinch three in a row and to be champions in South Africa three times in a row.

"I am very proud of myself and all my teammates and all the supporters that have been there for us, so to win the league means a lot to.

"When I first moved to SuperSport United I never knew the kind of person he (Gavin Hunt) is. But he is a good motivator, he always gives me advice on what to do and whenever I listen to him the right things happen."

The 24-year-old hailed the United boss and the influence he has had on his career and is confident that Hunt would make a success of Bafana Bafana should he be given the chance to coach the national side.

"He has played a major role in our success, but also in my career,"he added.

"Since playing for him at SuperSport my game has improved.

"I always think that he should be Bafana Bafana coach, but no one has given him the chance and if he did get the chance he would make use of it.

"He deserves to get a chance because winning the league three times is not a small thing. It has only happened to a few people.

"When I was at Jomo Cosmos I was part of a team fighting for a top eight position, but now at SuperSport we challenge for the league every season and we want to beat all the teams," he concluded.
