Laffor continues training on his own

Laffor continues training on his own
Posted: 2008-03-20 14:13

Supersport United-bound midfield-cum-striker Anthony Laffor says despite being told to stop using the Jomo Cosmos grounds for training by club boss Jomo Sono, he will continue to respect his contract up to the time it expires.

The Liberian infuriated Sono when he signed a pre-contract with United during the transfer window at a time when the Cosmos apparently intended selling him to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Since being told he will not feature for Cosmos again, Laffor says he has faced an array of demoralising situations.

I have made sure that I adhere to the letter that I received from the club

“Since I got the letter informing me to start training with the Under-19 team, that development team has never been training. To be honest I haven’t seen the Under-19 team,” reveals the lanky player.

“I then took it upon myself to train on my own at the Cosmos training grounds. But Jomo told me to stop using his grounds, and now I do my own training though I always inform the club about my training programme. I alternate my field sessions with going to the gym later on in the day.

“This is because I still respect my contract while I also don’t want to get into any kind of trouble with the club. I have made sure that I adhere to the letter that I received from the club.

“While it is a saddening experience having to train alone, I have told myself that I just have to be strong,” Laffor tells KickOff.com.

The temperamental yet talented 23-year-old will link up with United next season on a three-year deal. Save & Share
