Laffor To Be Honored!

After a fantastic season in the South African league where he clinched numerous awards including the Most Valuable Player (MVP), 2nd top scorer in the league as well as top goal scorer for his team Super Sports where he helped them clinched the title, Liberian International striker, Anthony Snorthi Laffor will on Sunday, May 7, 2009 add to his awards when the friends of Wilfred Peters honor him for his success in the just ended season in South Africa.

In an interview with Liberiansoccer.com, the brain behind the big honoring Mr.. Peters said the program is in line with calls from many Liberians to honor the net buster who many see as the outstanding Liberian showcasing oversea.

Mr. Peters said the program will take place at the Gurley Street pitch in Monrovia with the friends of Wilfred Peters engaging the friends of Anthony Laffor at 4:30 PM in a soccer match before the honoring.

“This match, friends of Wilfred Peters versus friends of Anthony Laffor is to commemorate the success of the son of this soil as well as his save arrival from south.

“Laffor is a son of this soil who has put his interest into football and has improved himself over the years.

“We are proud of his successes and this is our own way of appreciating him.

“We have done lots for youths of Liberia and honoring Laffor is not a strange one,” Mr. Peters who is considered a gross rooter noted.

When contacted, the honoree, Laffor said “I can’t wait to see Sunday for such great honor.

“After winning numerous awards in foreign land, I think this is the biggest one where concern citizens recognized my works and wanting to give me such honor. I considered it the biggest honor since in fact it’s given me at home and by my countrymen,” Snorthi as he is widely called in Liberia noted.

When asked how well he knows Mr. Peters, Laffor said “I know him to be a grass rooter where almost all youths want to get along with him,” Laffor said.

Some players to form part of Anthony and friends for the big match on Sunday are Lone Star gradually recovering Captain Murphy Komonple Nagbe, LISCF FC defense ace George Baysah, Turkish based Theo Weeks who is in the country for vacation, Morris Donzo and other Liberian Internationals who are in the country for vacation.
