LPRC Oilers Begins Title Defense On Fair Note
-As MOre Matches Take Place This Weekend

03/ 11/ 2004 Monrovia-Defending Liberia Football Association (LFA) LPRC Oilers began their title defense on a fair note with a 0-0 draw against Shoes FC (formerly Mighty BUSA) on Sunday, March 7, 2004.

The match was played at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) with a sparse crowd watching. Oilers despite acquiring the services of Lone Star's sensational attacking midfielder, Takpoh Sonkarliey, formerly of Mighty Barrolle, and defender Solomon Wesseh, alias "Jean Pierre", Oilers could not score a goal against Shoes FC.

Shoes FC bought the franchise of Mighty BUSA, a team previously owned and supported by Paul Najue of Don Bosco Homes, Oilers tried all techniques and tactics to outplay their opponent, Shoes FC stood their ground and give the Sensational LPRC Oilers their money's worth.

Meanwhile, the first match involving female teams in the second division saw the defending champions, Tito United thrashing Pro Anchors, 6-1.

Tito United got her goals through Vivian Sando in the 4th minute, while Jestina Jippyt, Christina Myers (2 goals), Florence Momoh and Patience Williams got 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th goal.

Irene Bernard of Pro Anchors scored her team consolation goal.

In a related development, the league continued on Tuesday, March 9 with First division teams NPA Anchors and Monrovia Black Star clashing.

The two teams thrilled fans with spectacular display of modern football. But in the end, it was NPA Anchors who won 2-1.

In another development, the league continue this coming weekend with several matches paired.

On Friday, March 12, Blanco and World Girls will meet in the female division, while Juventus Olympic will take on Mighty Electrons.

On Saturday, March 13, Alliance FC will host LISCR FC in the Premier Division at the ATS in the only match of the day.

On Sunday, March 14, Monrovia Club Breweries will play host to Invincible Eleven (IE) at the ATS, while Bassa Defenders will host Watanga FC in Buchanan and Mighty Blue Angels will also host Millennium Stars in Unification Town, Margibi County.
