Commentary:
LONE STAR NABBING WAS ILL-OMENED

Liberia Government white paper, which has
issued a crackdown on the activity of the Lone Star for the next few
years didn’t educe any shocker as it may have done for numerous
football pundits.
In the opinion of this writer, there were
sufficient suspicion to divulge this decree long before it was made
public, and as such, I am not surprised at all.
Besides, the recurrent furor in appointing
a coach following the discharge of George Weah and his team, the late
commencing of training ahead of the trip to Guinea and the inexcusable
jostle over $58,000.00, ferrets for itself.
But what surprises me most is the treacherous
approach of Lone Star handlers at the start of the ANC 2004
Qualifiers, which has raised the expectations of mainly the young
players that the team was going to survive the Qualifiers.
Both the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Liberia FA knew from
inception of the Qualifiers that there weren’t ample savings to
commensurate with the team participation. But instead, they concealed
as they always do to make up for their underperformances.
Victims of Liberian football hypocrisy walking out for three or more
years
Howbeit, the decision of the Government has
finally exposed the Minister of Youth and Sports in accomplice with
the Liberia FA and won’t be surprised again if the Government were to
get directly involved with football matters.
“The toad that fails to listen to the frog, follows the
corps of another toad to its grave”.
While the Lone Star stay inactive, the
Government white paper has stated that a fitting sketch will be drawn
for a reincarnated Lone Star in its entirety.
But where would the investments come from
considering the grappling economic explanation set forth by the
Government, remains another highly contentious matter.
In the coming years, as is manifest by the
Government current priorities and decision- with Sports outside the
terrain of its priorities, Lone Star will stay grounded while the
Liberia League operates shamelessly.
Notwithstanding, the younger players who are
always the victims in circumstances as such, will have nowhere to
blister their potentials as most of Liberian clubs are barred from CAF
activities.
As most foreign clubs are demanding over 75%
involvement with a national team in the last two years before signing
an African player, that which will hold stream for the inexperience
Liberian players is what we hope to see.
Pathetically, my heart goes out to those local players
that might not be fortunate to join foreign clubs aim at brightening
their career, as they will have to cope with the prevailing situation.
