LIBERIA U-23 ATTRACTS $500.00 AS BOOSTER

Barely 24 hours to Liberia U-23 second leg match against the Black Meteors of Ghana, the Liberia FA has ditched out $500.00 to the team.

Counselor Izetta Wesley gave the team $100.00 following the Guinea match, which the senior Lone Star lose 2-1 in Accra.

Delivering the cash last night at the team Hotel, the Chief Accountant at the Liberia FA James Koiyon, told the players and officials that the cash was the FA way of enhancing the team's efforts.

He confessed that though the gift is nothing considering the daunting tasks being shouldered by the refugee team, the FA is gratified by their resolve to represent their country.

" We're deeply moved by the sacrifices you're making in these trying times", he told the delegation.

" The FA knows the results aren't encouraging, but with this little token, we are assured of your best in Sunday's match", James Koiyon besieged.

He however admonished those who are yet to give their widow's mite, to ensure that Sunday's match page something alien to previous results.

The Head Coach of the team, Gborboe Glinwon on behalf of his team lauded the Liberia FA for the trust and confidence reposed in his team.

He said though the players are in dare need of some assistanceto help them cater for themselves, their love for Liberia is placed first.

Liberia U-23 team battles the rampaging Black Meteors of Ghana Sunday in the return fixture of their 2004 Olympic qualifier.

The match, which comes alive at the Accra Sports Stadium is the first between the teams since Liberia dwindled the hopes of the Black Stars two year ago.

The 1996 Olmpic semi-finalist drubbed their Liberian counterparts 5-0 in first leg on Wednesday at the Len Clay Sports Stadium at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
