The Liberia Football Association has welcomed the appointment of
former Lone Star captain Kelvin Sebwe as Technical Director for
Football Development in Liberia.
The decision followed a consultative meeting held between the Ministry
of Youth and Sports and the L FA on Thursday at the Samuel Kayon Doe
Sports Complex in Paynesville.
In a joint Press Statement, the two entities said the meeting
discussed wide range of issues relating to football development in the
country.
The LFA said it has accepted Kelvin and pledged its support to the
programs he intends to undertake.
Both the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Liberia Football
Association said they have agreed to harmonize their differences and
strengthen their working relationship.
Acting Youth and Sports Minister Edwin Tetteh had earlier on Tuesday
told a well attended news conference that the record capped National
Team player was appointment by President Ellen Johnson Sirlear as
Technical Director of the Lone Star.
The pronouncement sparked several debates in the football circles with
some even describing it as government interference.
What is still not clear hare is the role of Kelvin Sebwe and Kadala
Kromah who both occupied technical positions.
Both the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the LFA have remained tight
lipped on the working plans of the two men.
