LFA congress
cancelled

Written by Anthony A. Stephens
The Liberia Football Association has announced the cancellation of its
mini congress.
The group took the decision Friday at a press conference in Monrovia.
According to LFA Acting Secretary General Sam Bedford, the congress
was cancelled due to what he called two cardinal reasons.
Mr. Bedford named the reasons as the failure of FIFA to approve the
group’s 2009 statues and the incompletion of the much talked about
Voscon financial audit report.
The LFA SG said he was quite disappointed that the congress could not
take place.
He said there were no positive signals form either FIFA or Voscon
regarding the completion of their respective functions.
Star Sports understands that the failure of FIFA to approve the 2009
LFA statues was due to the failure of the local football house legal
council Theophilus Gould to travel to Zurich, Switzerland to steam up
the process to review the statues.
Star Sports also gathered that Voscon completed its audit of the
financial statement of the LFA on Wednesday and it would take them a
little bit of time to publish its report.
Our investigation further gathered that the congress was cancelled due
to the lack of some seven thousand United States dollars to facilitate
the process.
It is not yet clear as to whether there would be any congress before
the long awaited March 2010 elections as LFA Acting Secretary General
Mr. Sam Bedford said he was probably not aware yet as to the holding
of any congress.
