Coach Roberto Landi

The Liberia Football Association is in talks with Lone Star
Care Taker Italian Coach Roberto Landi to extend his already
expired care taker coaching position with the senior
national football team of Liberia.
Coach Landi took over as interim coach for the National
football team of Liberia early March when the team’s main
head coach the Hungarian Bertalin Besickai took ill and
requested for a 90 day leave.
Since the death of the Hungarian coach from Liberia in this
week there is a need for a replacement
Coach Landi’s three months care taking role with the Lone
Star ended last June, but LFA President Musa Bility told
sports journalists in Monrovia Monday “we are in talks with
the Italian to extend his care taker role of the Liberia
national team until the end of the 2012 African Cup’s
qualifiers”.
Bility said the local FA’s top brass have expressed
satisfactions over the performance of Coach Landi’s ninety
days so far with the Lon Star Squad.
“The Liberia Football Association is very pleased with the
performance of Coach Landi. We are so pleased that we have
requested for an extension of his stay and that we are in
negotiations with him to finalize the agreement”, said Musa
Bility.
The LFA has confirmed they are holding consultations with
some former players of the Liberia National football team to
form part of Lone Star’s technical staff.
“As soon as I took office I made contacts with several
former players to join the Lone Star coaching team including
former team captain James Debbah. I’m going to continue the
talks with him; we need to know what role he will like to
play at the technical level”.
Bility said we can look at our current position and see if
we can take him, but no decision on his appointment to the
technical team has been made- .
