In commemoration of the International Day of Peace, the Liberia Football Association (LFA), in conjunction with the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), is expected to join the rest of world today in the celebration.

Today's celebration would take place at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia with a series of football matches.

According to the LFA Deputy General Secretary, Napolean Jaeplo, the International Day of Peace anniversary coincides with the observance of the FIFA Fair Day.

Mr. Jaeplo said the world football governing body has mandated member associations and federations, especially the Liberia Football Association to jointly celebrate the day with UNMIL in making both anniversaries successful.

The ceremony, which begins at 3:00pm, would be characterized by cultural performance to thrill thousands of Liberians including government officials, and UN staff who are expected to jam-pack the stadium.

Report says the Vice President of Liberia, Joseph Boakai, UNMIL Officer- In-Change, Carlos Da Costa, and local sports administrators are expected to grace the occasion.

At the same time, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Liberia Volleyball Federation, would also host a one-day tournament at the Sports Commission on Broad Street in observance of the day.
