Reports reaching Star Radio say there are plans by the Liberia
Football Association to promote three teams to the premier league.
Star Radio gathered the decision to promote three teams was agreed
at an executive meeting of the group on Tuesday. The latest Football
Association decision would see Liberia’s oldest club Invincible
Eleven return to the premier league. The executive committee
decision was reported to be based on a recommendation from the
competition committee.
When Star Radio contacted a member of the competition committee, he
confirmed that the matter was discussed but failed to say a decision
was reached. Mr.Garmondeh Karnga said their recommendation was in
the interest of the growth of the game in the country.
Mr.Karnga Said a formal decision on the matter would be announce by
the president of the LFA. But the president of a first division club
has described the LFA decision as bias.
The President of Gedi &Sons said the action was not in the interest
of the game instead it was to favor Invincible Eleven. Mr. Patrick
Garwo argued that other teams that were in such condition seasons
ago were not considered.
Mr.Garwo recommended that the LFA promote five teams to the premier
league instead of three. He believes this would serve the best
interest of all the teams.
