LFA To Complain Sports Ministry To FIFA

Dep.Min of Sports Marbue Richards

Horatio Bobby Willie
Thursday, 05 October 2006

The Liberia Football Association has announced it will report the Sports Ministry to FIFA.

LFA President Cllr.Izetta Wesley said their decision was based on the continuous interference in the activities of the group by the Sports Ministry. Cllr.Wesley said the ministry has also excluded the LFA from all activities of the national team.

She told a news conference Wednesday night that they would make a formal complaint to FIFA today. The LFA President alleged he Sports Ministry has decided to take over every activity for the coming game. Cllr.Wesley claimed the ministry has taken over the responsibility of lodging the visiting team and securing transportation and indemnities for referees.

Under international regulations, the football body is responsible to handle all activities during an international game.

The LFA has also announced that it was withdrawing its participation from preparations for this weekend’s nations cup qualifier against Rwanda.

There have been no official respond from the Sports Ministry over the football association’s latest decision.
