LFA Executive meeting ends in confusion

Reported by Horatio Bobby Willie
Thursday, 17 August 2006

Reports reaching LiberianSoccer.com say the boardroom of the Liberia Football Association nearly became a boxing ring during an executive meeting of the association on Tuesday.

Our reporter who stood close to the boardroom said there were heated exchanges between the two vice presidents of the LFA that almost resulted into a fistfight.

The commotion was due to disagreement over current trend of activities at the LFA.

The Executive Committee of the football association was to decide a new secretary general of the group when the commotion started.

A group of executive committee members according to our reporter who are opposing the nomination of any candidate sent forward by Cllr.Izetta Wesley is being led by Vice President for Operations Adolph Lawrence.

Mr. Lawrence was reported to have accused Vice President for Administration Pennoh Bestman of what he termed “betraying the cause’.

Another LFA executive Mustapha Raji also had some exchanges with the group’s president Izetta Wesley during the meeting.

This is the fourth time executives of the football body have failed to name a secretary general following the dismissal of Yanqueh Borsay.
Former Millennium Star president John Rufus Ballah is the man leading the pack for the secretary general post.
