Following a marathon meeting with first and
second division President, the President of the Liberia Football
Association (LFA) Edwin Snowe has returned to his base in Denver,
Colorado the United States of America, where he is studying sports
management and entertainment.
In a brief chat with this website on New
Year Day before his departure, the LFA boss said he held a fruitful
discussion with the team presidents, as well as discussed matters
relative to the development and growth of football in the country.
He said his meeting was cordial and frank as all
those concerned raised issues in the interest of football. He
dispelled the notion that he was given a 72 hour ultimatum as was
earlier been speculated. He said all that he was asked to do was to
brief the team heads once he was in the country.
He disclosed that he will be back in the country in the
first quarter of this year in keeping with his school schedule,
coupled with that of the LFA.
The LFA boss then hailed the Acting President of the
LFA, Cllr. S. Izetta Wesley, the Executive Committee, the Secretariat
and Staff of the LFA for their level of good work being done in his
absence to keep football going in Liberia.
Mr. Snowe clarified that he is not an exiled President
of the LFA as being reported by some media, but stated that Cllr.
Wesley is clothed with the authority in keeping with the LFA Statutes
to act while he is away. He said the Acting President has represented
the to all of the CAF and WAFU meeting in recent times, and she will
also do on the FIFA level.
Meanwhile, the LFA President has extended an invitation
to the Dean of Hospitality College at the Johnson and Wales
University, Stephen F. Pyle, to come to Liberia and see how things are
done in running football.
He said the Dean who also a professor at the Johnson
and Wales, where he (Snowe) is studying Sports Management and
Entertainment, is being extended this invitation to afford him the
opportunity to assess how he Snowe runs the LFA whenever he is back
home.
The LFA President was awarded a scholarship by
FIFA and LFA to study abroad. He began his studies in the last quarter
of 2002.
