Malaysian FA Boss Extols JB Seton
-Says LFA Prexy Snowe
February 28, 2003
The biblical adage that “ a prophet is not welcome in his own home” has begun to affect one of Liberia’s youthful and prolific strikers, Josiah JB. Seton. While his country is not appreciating and using his exploits on the field of play, the Malaysian FA Chief has noticed him.

Following his brilliant performance in the Malaysian Premier League, Josiah JB Seton was extolled by the President of the Malaysia Football Association for scoring 26 goals in his first season.

This was disclosed to our Sports Desk by the President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Edwin Snowe, from his base in Denver, Colorado, where he is undergoing undergraduate studies at the Johnson and Wales University.

According to Mr. Snowe, his Malaysian counterpart told him about JB Seton’s splendid performance in the Malaysian Premier League, when they met in Zurich, Switzerland attending a FIFA meeting.

Mr. Snowe said the Malaysian FA Chief told him that he was very surprised that JB Seton was not invited by Liberia to play for the national team, because the players was in devastating form and any coach would have loved to have that caliber of player on his team.

In response, Mr. Snowe said he told his counterpart that the technical staff of the Liberian national team was independent in its decision, but promised to pass on the information received from him to the Lone Star’s technical staff.

For his part, Mr. Snowe said he was impressed that the head of another federation could come to him and tell him about the exploits of a player that came from his league.

“I am indeed happy that my counterpart recognized the efforts being made by a Liberian player in his league. I hope player Seton keeps up his good form because Liberia will have to rely on youthful players in the qualifiers,” Mr. Snowe noted.

But while the LFA President is hoping for youthful players who are currently in good form included on the Lone Star, JB Seton is yet to get the call to national duty.

The same old story dating back to Manneh Peters, George Weah is being repeated by coach Kadalah Kromah. JB Seton was down-played by previous Lone Star coaches for reason best known to themselves, despite the player’s exhibiting good form. Coach Kromah is yet to acknowledge that JB Seton is a good player and is still daily delaying.
